| Approaching the golf course, one cannot help but take notice of the imposing pyramid-like clubhouse. Built upon 320 acres of swampland and jungle, the golf course was opened in 1985. There are total two 18-hole golf courses. The Matang Nine and the Santubong Nine make up one 18-hole course while the Siol Nine and the Demak Nine make up the other 18-hole course. Though there are no well known designer names, the courses are challenging in that there are numerous hazards, with a good mix of bunkers, and lakes which are well placed to ensure that the serious golfers stop to think before excuting the next shot. Kelab Golf Sarawak can also boast to have one of the longest par five in Malaysia. It is 608 metres from the blue tee and has a stroke index of 2. This is found at the 9th hole of the Santubong Nine. A par here is like getting a birdie.. |
